
Mr. Holmes attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School. He served in the regular Army during WW II, and after the war remained in the U.S. Army Reserve for many years while working at Bath Iron Works as a shipbuilder. Upon Mr. Holmes retirement, he and his wife, always avid travelers, set forth to tour the country in their RV. Ultimately, they settled down in Casa Grande, AZ.
Once a member of The New Church in Bath, Mr. Holmes later attended the Sunrise Chapel in Tucson and the United Methodist Church of Casa Grande.
Howard Holmes’ survivors include his wife, Barbara L., to whom he was happily married for 74 years; his daughter, Kathleen L. Towle; a sister, Christie Snow; three brothers, William, Jerry and Stanley Holmes; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his younger daughter, Karen L. Boone, and by four brothers and two sisters.
