BRUNSWICK — Highland Green of Topsham parlayed three hits, seven walks and several errors into a 9-0 American Legion Baseball win over Brunswick Tuesday at Edwards Field.

Highland Green (1-1, scheduled to host Tri-County of Mechanic Falls tonight), scored four runs each in the first and sixth innings with Joey Van Note and Sam Coombs each supplying a tworun single.

Torrey Charnock pitched well as he went the distance and gave up two hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks.

Ryan Maciejewski and Zach Lavoie each singled for Brunswick (scheduled to visit New Auburn today), while John Parker, Brady Larsen and Brett Lancaster took turns on the mound with 15 strikeouts and seven walks.

“We got some big hits at the right time, which is rare for us,” said Highland Green coach Bob Neron. “I’m pretty excited … it’s been a while since we had a win, going back to Mt. Ararat High School.”

LEWISTON 10

On Saturday, Lewiston scored five runs in the sixth inning to break open the season opener for both teams.

Corbin Hyde singled and doubled and Mark Perreault had two singles for Lewiston.

Brady Murray had two hits in the loss and pitched the first four innings with nine strikeouts. Dan Porter and Reilly Kons finished up and combined on three strikeouts.

Eddie Stewart and Kons each singled for Highland Green.

SMITH- TOBEY 3
BETHEL 1

Smith-Tobey Post’s Trenton Moore earned the win on the mound, allowing only four hits and a run to Bethel, while striking out 10 on Tuesday.

Casey Watson had an RBI single in the third inning to drive in Keegan McDonough. Smith-Tobey added two more runs in the sixth.

Bethel’s Kyle Peterson had two triples and an RBI.

Aaron Barrett went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, while Zach Holbrook had a hit and sacrifice fly and Casey Watson a hit and RBI.

Smith Tobey moved to 1-1 and Bethel 0-1. Smith-Tobey visits Pastime Club at Lewiston High School today.
