PHIPPSBURG — For oneday only — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13 — tours will be offered of private gardens found in the hidden corners of the Phippsburg peninsula.
Reserve tickets ahead of time; space is limited.
The ticket price for adults is $25, $30 after July 1; children younger than 12 are $10, and tickets should be purchased by sending checks payable to Popham Circle, to Connie Shiebler, 940 Popham Road, Phippsburg 04562.
The tour starts at the Phippsburg Sportsman’s Club on Route 209. Pick up a map and details, and visit gardens nestled amongst the pines overlooking spectacular coastlines, laid out in tiers or cultivated in flower boxes. Travel at your own pace, in your own car and enjoy the beauty and variety of 10 privately owned gardens.
Garden owners will be on hand to share their knowledge of the plantings and flowers.
You might pick up a garden tip or two. To make your day complete, you can add a lunchtime stop at any of six restaurants on the peninsula, or pick up sandwiches locally for your own private picnic.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
