BRUNSWICK — In recent Cal Ripken Baseball play, Goodwin’s came up a little short, losing 11-9 against Durham Oil.

Durham scored five runs in the first on five walks and singles by Ethan Little and Landon Adkins.

Goodwin’s failed to get anything going off Durham starter Colton Washburn, scoring four runs in the third on a couple of walks, singles by Sam Masse and Caleb Thompson, and a triple by Scout Masse.

Washburn then struck out the side and finished the game with eight strikeouts. It was a 6-5 game going into the fourth when Goodwin’s Dolan Pols (in his pitching debut ) set the side down in order.

In the fifth, Durham put up another five runs, and Goodwin’s answered with four in the bottom of the inning on doubles by Scout Masse and Benjamin Israel, and home runs by Sam Masse and Tucker Gagnon.

In the nightcap on Friday, Goodwin’s hung on for a 6-5 win over Dead River.

Goodwin’s offense was provided by Nathaniel Swan, Ethan Rollins, Thompson and Scout Masse all with singles. Pitching was the highlight of this one, with Scout Masse striking out 11 over four innings for Goodwin’s, while Oscar Herrera (on in relief of Matty Laforge ) picked up nine strikeouts over the last three innings for Dead River.

Thompson made his pitching debut for Goodwin’s. Dead River, without the benefit of a hit, plated five in the fifth to make it close.
