An entry level into racing, the objective of Thunder Fours is to provide a fun, economical and safe racing experience for the novice driver as well as the more experienced driver who enjoys the challenge and affordability of pure stock four cylinder racing. Exciting, challenging and lots of fun, Thunder Fours is the perfect opportunity to live the dream of learning how to prepare and race your very own car – without having to spend lots of money.
The Speedway requests all new drivers be at least 13 years of age and successfully complete the Wiscasset Speedway Rookie Orientation program prior to racing with Thunder Fours..
Some mandates:
* Fire resistant shoes and gloves.
* Snell Foundation approved helmet dated no older than 1995 and in good condition.
* Face shield, glasses or goggles.
Recommended, not required:
* Fire resistant underwear, socks, and head stocking.
* Head and neck support/restraint safety device.
Eligible models:
* Cars must be powered by a stock fuel injected or carbureted 4-cylinder engine that is stock for the year, make, and model car that it is being used in. Compact trucks are not permitted.
* Foreign and Domestic four (4) cylinder, four (4) passenger, front engine, front or rear wheel drive only.
* Minimum four (4) point roll cage is required.
* Original equipment windshield (safety glass) in good condition may be used.
* Bumpers are required to have a retention chain/cable at both ends.
