Woolwich-based Reed & Reed based in Woolwich has earned a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program Award for its work on the Sewall’s Bridge project in York.
“This certification recognizes businesses that voluntary undertake a rigorous safety achievement program,” Gov. Paul LePage said in a news release. “I commend Reed & Reed for making this commitment to keep Maine workers safe on this state-funded project.”
Presentation of the award is scheduled for noon today. Officials from the Department of Labor will attend the presentation.
Fewer than 2,000 work sites in the United States have earned the certification, according to Maine Department of Labor Commissioner Jeanne Paquette.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
