BATH — The Bath Middle School boys basketball teams opened their seasons on Thursday against Oak Hill, with the seventh-grade boys picking up a 32-27 victory, while the eighth-graders fell 36-24.
In the seventh-grade contest, the Destroyers trailed 6-4 after a quarter, but rallied for a 16-11 halftime lead and held a narrow 22-21 edge heading to the final frame.
Parker Onorato and Dylan Haycock led the way for Bath with nine points each, with Thomas Warren, Jack Harrington, Tyreik Foster and Isaiah Cogswell chipping in four points apiece.
Haycock pulled down 11 rebounds, while Connor Bennoch and Spencer Knowles played strong floor games.
Dillion Havener and Damon Osmond scored six points each, but the Bath eighth-graders struggled in the middle frames in falling by 12 points.
Bath led 10-8 after a quarter, but failed to score in the second and added just six points in the third to fall behind 25- 16.
Riley Lamarre and Connor Upham chipped in four points each for the Destroyers, while Tait Nygaard and Alex Fernald had four rebounds apiece. Nate Sinibaldi and Taylor Shaw played strong floor games.
