SOUTH FREEPORT — On December 8, 2012, Louise B. Parker, 94, of South Freeport, Maine passed away peacefully at Bay Square in Yarmouth, Maine, after a short battle with cancer.

She is survived by her daughter Diana Parker, her son-in-law Brook Taliaferro, daughter-in-law Susan Parker, and five grandchildren, Ross Taliaferro, Littlepage Taliaferro, Nicholas Parker, Lucy Taliaferro and Clara Parker. Louise was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Richard Parker, son Peter Parker and daughter Cynthia Parker Taliaferro.

Louise was born on April 27, 1918, in Charlotte, NC, the only daughter of Agnes and Frank E. Beane, Jr. of Augusta, GA and Wrightsville Sound, NC. She attended a French-speaking school in Warrenton, VA.

Louise and her family lived for many years in Marblehead, MA where she pursued a lifelong interest in gardening. She was a member of the Marblehead Garden Club and Summer Garden Club of Marblehead

Neck, serving as its president at one time. She was a former trustee of Tower School.

Louise and Richard rekindled their love of travel by spending a year in London just after WWII with their two young children as Richard attempted to start a business importing heavy machinery to the UK to help in its rebuilding. Later, they took kayak trips down the Danube with their family, went cross-country skiing in Norway, and spent several Christmases in Austria with their grandchildren. After retirement they traveled with friends in France and Germany with annual visits to Bermuda.

Louise was a member of the Chilton Club and the National Society of Colonial Dames.

A Remembrance is planned for Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10 am at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Yarmouth, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Maine Coast Heritage Trust.
