Plunge for Caring Unlimited

Caring Unlimited will ring in the new year at 11 a.m. Saturday while raising money to benefit victims of domestic violence. That is when the organization will host its 10th annual Atlantic Plunge at Gooch’s Beach.
Funds raised will support services, which include a 24-hour hotline, emergency sheltering, transitional housing, support and education initiatives and more.

Hospice grief support
VNA Home Health and Hospice will hold its monthly grief support meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Windham Union Church, 723 Roosevelt Trail.
The topic of the meeting will be, “What’s In Your Grief Basket?”

Smoking cessation classes
Pen Bay Healthcare and the Knox County Community Health Coalition will host three sessions of the American Cancer Society’s smoking cessation program Freshstart.
Each session consists of four 90-minute sessions held over four consecutive weeks. Those dates will be Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26; March 9, 16, 23 and 30; and May 4, 11, 18 and 25.
All classes will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Knox County Health Clinic in the Bok Medical Arts Building, 22 White St. This program is free to the public, thanks to a grant received from the Knox County Community Health Coalition.

Slide show on Mongolia
Josh Curry of Warren, a physics major at Principia College, will give a narrated slide presentation at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Camden Public Library, 55 Main St., detailing his travels to Mongolia this past summer.

Hike behind health center
The Sacopee Healthy Communities Coalition will host its 13th annual New Year’s Hike on Saturday. Walkers will meet at the Sacopee Valley Health Center’s waiting room on Route 160 at 10:30 a.m. for hot cocoa and goodies.
The hike will begin at 11 a.m. and is a three-mile route along snowmobile trails in woods near the Health Center. Children are welcome. Dogs are, too, but they must be on a leash. For more details, call 625-3082.
