BATH — On Friday, May 1, Patten Free Library will offer the first of five weekly iPad “mini-lessons” that focus on apps and websites that maximize access to free reading and video content. All five sessions are free, open to anyone with at least an iPad 2 with the latest operating system (iOS 8.3) installed. Sessions will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday in the Library’s second floor Community Room.
The May 1 session, “Overdrive Media Console” is a full review of how to use this app to borrow, download, read, and listen to eBooks and eAudiobooks available through the Maine InfoNet Download Library. Participants should arrive at the class with the app already loaded on their devices and an active library card.
The subsequent sessions include instruction on: The Kindle app (May 8), Open Library and the Internet Archive (May 15), the Feedly app and other news feeds/aggregators (May 22), and a class on Indie Flix (May 29), the library’s subscription service that provides access to thousands of award-winning shorts, features, and documentaries from over 50 countries.
