BATH — Shirley “Tudi” Smith Feldman of Poland Spring, ME, departed this world November 18, 2012, in her 82nd year of life.

She was predeceased by parents Rose and Dr. A. George Smith of Lawrence, MA; sister Alyce Stern, her husband Chester and their two children Lonni and Peter all of Sharon, MA; brotherin law Morris Greenbaum of Newton, MA; father-in-law Saul Feldman of Poland Spring, ME and mother-in-law Jenny Feldman of Boston, MA.

Surviving family members include son Michael Feldman of Brunswick, ME, Michael’s son Sam Feldman, the father of Tudi’s great grand daughter Cara; sister Anita Greenbaum of Newton, MA, nephews Robert Greene and Steven Greenbaum and special friend and ex-husband Loren Feldman of Sabattus, ME.

Tudi attended the University of New Hampshire and then the New England Conservatory of Music, becoming an accomplished pianist playing in dance bands and pursuing a life-long interest in music that became an enduring social love throughout her life. Marrying Loren Feldman in 1952, she participated in the operation of resort hotels in Magnolia, MA, and Poland Spring, ME, quickly adapting to the life and wearing the mantle of hotelier. Tudi was known by family and friends as a great hostess who really knew how to throw a party. If your picture with Tudi was hanging in the celebrity bar in the Feldman’s home, you knew you were special.

Tudi will be buried next spring at the Poland Spring Cemetery just in front of her home where she lived for more than fifty years and where members of the Ricker Family and Mel Robbins are buried.

The song is over but the melody lingers on.
