TOPSHAM — The Topsham Parks and Recreation Department is desperately in need of baseball umpires for their spring Cal Ripken programs.
These games are for youth ages 9-12 years of age.
The season begins the week of April 26, with weather permitting, and runs through June 13.
The department is also looking for someone to act as the master umpire scheduler for the games. This person will be responsible for contacting the umpires to ensure that each home game is assigned and covered for play.
Anyone interested in either of these positions can call the recreation office at 725-1726 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
