
After school, he worked at the Crystal Spring Farms in Brunswick for many years as well as Oakhurst Dairy in Bath. In 1960, he married the former Harriet Mason of Brunswick.
He entered civil service in 1961 working for the U.S. Post Office Department in Brunswick for 30 years before retiring in 1989. He was also employed by the town of Topsham as a special police officer for over 50 years, a part-time animal control officer and Topsham Rescue for many years. During that time, he served as a deputy sheriff for Sagadahoc County as a corrections officer and transport officer for over 30 years.
Louis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 202 in Topsham. He was also a member of the American Postal Union, a longtime member of the Topsham Fair Association and the First Church of the Nazarene in Bowdoinham.
Louis enjoyed going to his cottage on Pleasant Pond, doing crossword puzzles, and spending quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also liked seeing his fellow officers and friends at the station every morning for coffee.
He is survived by his three children: Ernest J. Saindon and his wife Melanie of Bath, Ronald G. Saindon and his wife Karen of Lisbon Falls, and Lisa M. Saindon and her companion Paul T. Oliver of Bridgton. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Shawn Saindon, Shannon Moon, Amy Creamer, Lacey McCarthy, Paul Saindon, Michael Saindon and Stacy Bradfield as well as ten great-grandchildren: Michael, Nathaniel, Joshua, Ethan, Makenzie, Hope, Allison, Danika, Noah and Hunter.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Harriet in May of 2008 and his sister Juliette Townes.

A funeral service for Louis will be held on Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Bowdoinham. Interment will take place at Keens Mills Cemetery in Turner at a later date.
