GORHAM — University of Southern Maine fifthyear women’s lacrosse head coach Lauren Reid announced that seniors Gina Johnson, Samantha Purcell of Durham and Lauren Santo are the captains for the Huskies’ upcoming 2013 season.
This is Santo’s second season as a captain. Johnson and Purcell are serving as captains for the first time.
Purcell, an attack, played in all 18 games last spring, scoring 11 goals and dishing off four assists.
The Huskies, 7-11 overall and 3-3 in Little East Conference play in 2012, open their season this Saturday when they travel to Cambridge, Mass., to play at M.I.T.
