To the Editor:
The Richmond Area Food Pantry was privileged to work with Wal-Mart last Saturday in our annual food drive. Without their devotion to work with organizations such as ours, we would be struggling to put food on our distribution tables to help the families who come to our pantry twice a month.
With the generosity of the patrons of Wal-Mart on Saturday, we were able to fill our truck to capacity. We were also fortunate to have Richmond High School students and the Key Club spend the day giving out candy and raising awareness for our cause.
This day was a great lesson to our teens as they were shown time and time again how good it feels and how little it takes to perform an unselfish act to help others in need.
Thank you, Wal-Mart, for giving us an opportunity to fill our pantry for the upcoming winter months. And thanks to those who gave generously; it is very much appreciated.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
