
Madeline Suhr scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the first quarter as the Brunswick High School girls basketball team cruised to a 50-32 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Lewiston on Wednesday.
The Dragons, who led 21-3 after a quarter, finished the regular season with a 15-3 mark. Brunswick will next play in the Class A South quarterfinals at the Portland Expo.
Brooke Barter chipped in 12 points and six boards for Brunswick.
Victoria Harris led Lewiston (8-9) with 13 points.

The Bobcats completed their regular season with a perfect 18-0 mark after an East-West Conference rout of Valley.
Sydney Underhill-Tilton had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way, while Mackenzie Abbott chipped in 15 points and Caitlin Kendrick had seven. Meranda Martin chipped in five assists.
Haley Miller paced Valley (4-14) with six points.
Richmond plays next in the Class C South quarterfinals at the Augusta Civic Center.

Alex Goodman popped for 30 points to power Pine Tree Academy to a win over Hyde.
Goodman added eight rebounds, nine steals and five assists for the Breakers, while Adriana DePalma chipped in 14 points.
Patricia Mudogo had seven points for the Phoenix (3-15).

The visiting Patriots jumped ahead 19-3 in the first quarter and cruised to a Western Maine Conference win over Freeport.
The Falcons fell to 11-6 and are slated to visit Lake Region tonight. Gray-New Gloucester improved to 16-1.
Brianna Jordan led the way for the Patriots with 14 points, while Skye Conley had 13, Alicia Dumont 11 and Mikaela Ryan 10.
Regan Lynch paced Freeport with 10 points.
Boys basketball
RICHMOND — Zach Small had 33 points and nine rebounds to power Richmond to an 89-37 E-WC win over Valley.
The Bobcats, who led 25-7, 45-25 and 71-31 at the quarter breaks, finished 16-1.
Matt Rines chipped in 13 points and seven assists for Richmond, while Nate Kendrick added 13 points, Zach Marseglia nine and Matt Holt eight points and 10 rebounds.
Austin Cates paced Valley with 13 points.

Senior guard Nate Benoit compiled a game-high 17 points to spark Brunswick to a KVAC victory over Lewiston.
The Dragons (11-7) breathed a little fire into the game in the first and third quarters, scoring more than 20 points in each frame. Colby Burnham contributed 14 points for Brunswick. Benoit tossed three of his four 3-point baskets in the third quarter.
Luke Madore posted a team-high 15 points for the Blue Devils (3-14) in the losing effort.

The host Shipbuilders used a 27-8 run in the third quarter to take control in KVAC play at Bath Middle School.
Morse improved to 4-13 and is slated to visit Winslow tonight.
After taking a 16-6 in the opening quarter, Morse struggled in the second as Waterville closed to 23-21 at the half.
Dakota Freeman and Parker Onorato had 18 and 17 points, respectively, in the win, while Raz Baltazar added nine points and Damon Osmond eight. Morse shot 17-of-21 from the free-throw line.

The visiting Falcons were doomed by the 3-point shooting of Gray-New Gloucester, which hit 12 from beyond the arc in a WMC victory.
John Henry Villanueva led the Patriots with 19 points, while John Martin hit four treys and finished with 16 points. Josiah Rottani had 11 and Hunter Colby 10 points.
Eriksen Shea and Connor Dostie split 16 points down the middle for Freeport, which is 5-12 and scheduled to host Lake Region tonight.

After a tight first half of action, Boothbay pulled away with a 14-2 run to open the second half en route to a Mountain Valley Conference win at Wiscasset, which finished the regular season with a 9-9 record.
Kyle Ames led the Seahawks with 20 points, followed by Carter Babcock with 12, and Steve Reny and Alex Smith with 10 apiece.
Ethan James picked up a game-high 28 points for the Wolverines.
Boys hockey
AUBURN — The Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester Kings got out to an early lead and never looked back in defeating Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/ Morse, 7-3, Wednesday afternoon at Norway Savings Bank Arena.
Hunter Soucy (two goals, assist) and Lucas Perry (goal, two assists) led the way for the Kings (7-4-1), who also got a goal and assist each from Bailey Drouin and Connor Cyr. Netminder Ashton Dorow made 25 saves to earn the win.
The Eagles (6-8) were paced by senior Mark Abreu, who had two assists, while they got goals from Tyler LaCascio, Ryley Austin and Steven Schuman. Nick Austin also chipped in with an assist, and goaltender Cade Charron made 17 saves in the losing effort.
Poland/ Leavitt/ Oak Hill/G-NG finished 2-for-6 on the power play, while Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse went 1-for-4.
Next up for the Eagles is on Saturday when they travel to the University of Southern Maine to play Massabesic/ Old Orchard Beach/Bonny Eagle at 8:15 p.m.
