WELLS (AP) — People aren’t the only ones vexed by New England’s high snowbanks.
Maine officials say a seal had to be rescued after getting stranded on a snowbank in Wells.
WMTW reports that the seal was spotted at about 10:30 Sunday morning near the Wells boat launch.
Members of the Wells Police Department and the Marine Mammals of Maine organization rescued the seal and returned it to the waters of Wells Harbor.
Officials say seals sometimes get stuck near roadways in winter because they follow the ice and snow.
