To the Editor:
The recent announcement that reliable electricity is now flowing to Maine’s power grid from the new tidal power generator at the bottom of Penobscot Bay reminds me that Maine must act quickly to maintain its prominent position in renewable energy development.
I believe that with a forwardthinking representative speaking for us in Augusta, Maine can and should continue to research and harness all our available renewable energy sources: tidal, solar, wind, geothermal, biofuels, and any other resources we can responsibly develop.
My friend and neighbor, Jennifer DeChant, is running for a seat in the Maine House, District 62, on a platform that supports renewable energy in all its forms. Her clear and convincing argument in favor of state support for alternative energy sources, like wind and the new tidal power installation, and her firm belief in energy conservation, makes her a sure bet for my vote this November.
I strongly believe that, with Jennifer’s leadership in Augusta, Maine can lead the country in the quest for true energy independence.
