AUGUSTA — The Sugg Middle School cross country team was in action on Thursday, competing in a meet at Cony High School.

The Greyhound boys managed a third-place finish as seven teams scored. Hall-Dale was first with 34 points, with Maranacook (64 points), Sugg (86), Winthrop (101), Cony (118), Gardiner (123) and Windsor (176) rounding out the scoring field.

Richmond also competed in the meet, with lone runner Josh Snowden crossing the finish line in 18:30.79.

Josiah Kinney and Michael Schotterbeck led the Sugg contingent with a fifth- and seventh-place showing, respectively. Kinney’s time was 13:10.49, with Schotterbeck close behind in 13:12.71.

Other Sugg runners among the boys were Kyle Provencal (18th, 14:19.17), Silas Crosby (25th, 14:35.93), Mitchell Porter (35th, 15:23.91), Geoffrey Shambarger (63rd, 18:43.67) and Jacob Brooks (68th, 19:59.94).

In the girls meet, host Cony came away the victors with 19 points, with Hall-Dale in second (70).

Sugg’s Kaylin Le took fourth overall in 13:25.91, with Richmond’s Olivia Winokurzew was in fifth at 13:37.05.

For Sugg, Bailey Everson (24th, 16:11.31) and Emily Chase (42nd, 18:57.20, personal best) competed, while for Richmond Emma Carbone (31st, 16:49.68), Corrine Marlowe (49th, 19:33.85) and Isabella Dunlop (61st, 20:49.07) finished.
