To the Editor:

Mattie Daughtry is running for District 66 seat in the Legislature and deserves your serious consideration.

Mattie graduated from our local Brunswick schools and Smith College. She has worked here in Brunswick at several local businesses and also runs her own photography business. For the past year, she has been working for the people of Maine by serving as a legislative watchdog in Augusta.

Through her work, she has been making sure that our government is transparent and accountable. She wants to continue her work by representing her hometown and fighting to make sure that our government is working for all Maine families.

Mattie espouses transparency, Democratic values and the Democratic platform, and she is extremely articulate. Mattie brings a strong political background with experience navigating legislative hallways with her mentor and family friend, Charlene Rydell. She has literally been in politics vicariously via family and friends who’ve held offices at local and state levels since she was very young.

She is endorsed by the Maine Education Association, Sen. George Mitchell, Rep. Chellie Pingree, The Maine Conservation Voters, Equality Maine, Professional Firefighters of Maine, MPA Campaign Vote, Maine State Employees Association and Planned Parenthood.

Mattie is uniquely qualified to deal with the problems and politics of Augusta today. She has read every legislative proposal regarding education for the previous legislative session, wants to serve on the Education Committee, and I urge you to explore her website to learn more about her and what she stands for. You will be impressed with her experience, her intelligence, her openness and her ability to work with people of different philosophies.

Brunswick will be best served by Mattie Daughtry as our District 66 representative.
