SKOWHEGAN (AP) — A Skowhegan man who called himself the “Black Ninja” in a taunting note left behind at the scene of a burglary, has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Jonathan Strickland was sentenced this week after being found guilty of two counts of burglary and two counts of theft in connection with break-ins at a restaurant and the Skowhegan Fairgrounds in October.
Police Chief Ted Blais says surveillance video at the restaurant showed the burglar wearing a black mask, with narrow eye slits, ninja style. He stole money and liquor.
On the same day, police investigating a break-in at the fairgrounds found a note saying “You can’t keep out the Black Ninja.”
Blais says the 25-year-old Strickland’s downfall came when he started bragging that he was the Black Ninja.
