THOMASTON (AP) — State Police and the Thomaston Police Department are awaiting word from the medical examiner’s office on the identity of a decomposed body found off U.S. Route 1.
Detectives say they have a promising lead on the man’s identity but will await work by the medical examiner to establish a positive ID as well as a cause of death.
Police say the body was found Wednesday morning in the woods behind a Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot.
A team of detectives assisted the police department with removal of the remains, which were taken to the state medical examiner’s office.
