TOPSHAM

Photographer, educator, and author Rob Sylvan of New Hampshire will speak at the First Light Camera Club meeting at 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19. The talk takes place at the Topsham Medical Building at 4 Horton Place in Topsham and is free for Club members and $10 for nonmembers at the door. All are welcome to attend.

“Capture to Print Using Lightroom” is the topic of Sylvan’s talk. He’ll be describing an overview of a photographic workflow— one that puts the photographer in charge of all aspects—for taking a photo straight out of the camera through to final output. Taking a great photo is only the first step these days. Photographers must be knowledgeable about using computers and software to transform their images.

Sylvan is the author of 14 books about photography or editing software. These include guides to the Nikon D3300, D5100, D5200, D5300, D600, and the new Nikon D750. He has also written books on Lightroom 5, plus “The Photographer’s Quick Guide to Photoshop CS6,” “Lightroom for Dummies,” “ Taking Stock: Make Money in Microstock Creating Photos That Sell,” and “The Photographer’s Guide to Using Snapseed.”

He will bring along some books he recommends, a few that he has written, and several copies of his latest — written about the Nikon D750 — to give away. He will allow plenty of time for questions and answers.
