TOPSHAM — Caleb Cost scored eight points in the first quarter, and the Huskies held on as the Brunswick Junior High School eighth-grade boys basketball team downed rival Mt. Ararat 36-29 on Thursday.
Brunswick led 18-4 after the first. The Eagles chipped away, closing to 27-17 at the half and 31-21 after three.
Gage Palmer paced Mt. Ararat with eight points, with Cole Guerin adding seven, and Elliot Bowie, Kyle Brown and Jake Steinman playing tough defense for the Eagles.
