
Cody Roberts led five Wiscasset in double figures as the Wolverines earned a 72-56 Mountain Valley Conference win over Dirigo in boys high school basketball action on Thursday.
The Wolverines improved to 6-3 and play host to undefeated Winthrop on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
Roberts had 17 points, Zach Reed 15, Ethan James and Logan 11 each, and Russell Marr 10 as Wiscasset held quarter leads of 23-15, 39-25 and 56-41.
Luke Lueders had a game-high 24 points for Dirigo, with Cooper Chaisson adding 18.
At the free-throw line, Wiscasset finished 8-for-16 and Dirigo 12-of-16.

The visiting Greyhounds withstood a Telstar rally for an MVC win at Bethel.
Lisbon, 5-2 and scheduled to host Wiscasset on Tuesday at 7 p.m., led 18-9 and 31-17 at the first two quarter breaks.
The Rebels (1-6) rallied, scoring 20 points in the third quarter to Lisbon’s 10 to close to 41- 37 through 24 minutes.
Jonah Sautter paced Lisbon with 28 points, while Henry Doyle finished with 14.
Avry Griffin, Jarrett Bean and Tanner Wheeler scored in double figures for Telstar with 18, 16 and 11 points, respectively.

The visiting Blue Blazes rallied in the fourth quarter for a come-from-behind win in Class A South play at Bath Middle School.
Morse (1-8) came out strong, leading 25-11 after a quarter. Westbrook chipped away from there, trailing 40-32 and 54-48 at the next two quarter breaks. But, a 26-10 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter allowed the visitors to leave with a win.
Dakota Freeman paced Morse with a game-high 21 points, with Thomas Warren pitching in 17 points and Damon Osmond picking up a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Arius Eich chipped in 11 points.
Zacari Manoogian led Westbrook with 18 points.
At the free-throw line, the Blue Blazes were 12-of-19 and Morse 5-of-9.
The Shipbuilders visit Mt. Ararat on Monday at 7 p.m.
Girls
WESTBROOK — Sierra Wallace hit for four 3-pointers and a game-high 18 points to power Morse to a 38-33 Class A South win over Westbrook.
Morse, which improved to 4- 5 and visits Mt. Ararat on Monday at 5 p.m., led 11-9 and 17-15 at the first two quarter breaks, but trailed 24-23 after three quarters.
Hope Faulkingham and Noa Sreden split 14 points down the middle for the Shipbuilders.
Julia Martel led Westbrook with 12 points.
Morse struggled at the free-throw line, making just 12-of- 32.

Visiting Mountain Valley earned a key MVC win at Lisbon, riding 25 points from Ashley Russell in the victory.
The Falcons jumped to a 12-6 first-quarter lead, led 24-13 at the half and 30-21 after three.
Russell made 13 free throws, and teammate Liza White had nine points for Mountain Valley.
Kaylin Le and Giana Russo each scored 10 points to pace Lisbon, which fell to 4-3 and visits Carrabec on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Boys hockey
PORTLAND — Portland/Deering scored its two goals in the second period and held on for a 2-1 win over South Portland/Freeport /Waynflete at William Troubh Arena.
Camren King and Dylan Wike picked up a goal each 3:14 apart in the middle frame.
Owen Patrick of Freeport cut the lead in half, scoring at 4:11 of the third period for the Red Riots.
But, Portland/Deering received 15 saves from netminder Sam Segal to hold on.
Joe Grant turned away 39 shots in net for the Red Riots, who fell to 1-3-1 and hosts Cheverus on Saturday at 4:10 p.m.
Girls hockey
BRUNSWICK — Evelyn Hinkley scored the game-winning goal late in regulation to lift Winslow/Gardiner to a win over Brunswick at Sidney J. Watson Arena.
Hinkley, who scored the winning goal against the Dragons earlier this season, had two goals and an assist. Julia Neadeau and Liz Neadeau each scored a goal.
For Brunswick (5-5), Jenna Brooks had two goals, including the tying marker with 4:30 left in regulation. Madeline Berry also scored a goal for the Dragons, while Beth Labbe assisted on all three goals.
Marilyn Daniel had 16 saves in net in the loss, while Kassie Demers had 18 stops for Winslow/Gardiner.
The Dragons host St. Dom’s on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The visiting and undefeated St. Dom’s Saints scored three goals in the first period and steadily pulled away for a win over Mt. Ararat/Morse at Watson Arena.
The Eagles fell to 0-11 and host Brunswick on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
Kristina Cornelio had three goals in the win, with Bugsy Hammerton adding a goal and six assists.
Lily Schenk made 24 saves in goal for the Eagles.
