Bath Housing received a $214,679 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This three-year renewal grant provided through HUD’s Resident Opportunities and Self Sufficiency Service Coordinators Program funds Bath Housing’s resident service program serving the Anchorage, Dike’s Landing, and the Moorings senior housing projects.
“Bath Housing has a vital role in ensuring that vulnerable individuals and families in Bath and the surrounding communities have safe and affordable housing,” said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, who chairs the Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee. “By supporting a Resident Services Coordinator, this grant will connect older Mainers living in Bath Housing apartments to additional resources, helping to improve their health, independence, and overall wellbeing.”
The purpose of HUD’s ROSS-SC program is to encourage innovative and locally driven strategies that link public housing assistance with public and private resources. Bath Housing’s Program connects tenants with services and benefits such as community health programs, home health services, education, transportation, job training and placement programs, reasonable accommodation requests and any other concerns related to housing.
“No Maine senior should have to go without a roof over their head, which is why increasing access to stable, safe, and affordable housing is so critical,” Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, said. “Maine is fortunate to have many great organizations, like Bath Housing, that assist seniors in maintaining their independence, and this grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will support their ongoing efforts to help Maine seniors age in place within the comfort of their own homes.”
