the first team in NFL history to record both a kickoffreturn touchdown and a punt-return touchdown in a
game three different times.
—Greg Zuerlein, Rams, made four field goals, including a 60-yarder in St. Louis’ 19-13 win over Seattle.
Zuerlein is the first kicker in NFL history to convert a
60-yard field goal and a 50-yard field goal in the same
game.
—Punter Johnny Hekker, Rams, threw a 2-yard TD
pass to Danny Amendola in St. Louis’ 19-13 win over
Seattle. The play was a fake field goal and was the
Rams’ only TD of the game.

LONE STAR STATE SUCCESS
Houston’s 38-14 win over Tennessee gave the Texans
the first 4-0 start to a season in franchise history and
the first 4-0 start by a Houston professional football
team since the USFL Houston Gamblers started 5-0 in
1985.

PATRIOTS GAMES
The New England Patriots became the second team in
NFL history with a 300-yard passer (Tom Brady, 340
yards), two 100-yard rushers (Brandon Bolden, 137
yards and Steven Ridley, 106) and two 100-yard
receivers (Wes Welker, 129 and Rob Gronkowski, 104)
in the team’s win at Buffalo. The only other team to
accomplish the feat was the 2008 Packers. The Patriots, who trailed 14-7 at halftime, scored 45 second-half
points. New England is the first team since the 1950
New York Giants (48 points) to score at least 45 second half points in a game in which it trailed at halftime.
… New England improved to 17-1 in its past 18 meetings against Buffalo, and 22-2 dating to the 2000 season. … The win was the 194th of Bill Belichick’s career,
moving him into eighth place on the NFL list, one
ahead of Chuck Knox.

The Jets’ 34-0 loss was the first time New York was
shut out since losing 9-0 to Green Bay on Oct. 31,
2010, and the Jets’ biggest shutout home loss since
falling 37-0 to Buffalo in 1989. … The Broncos didn’t
punt in their 37-6 win over Oakland — only the fifth
time that’s happened in franchise history. … The Arizona Cardinals have started 4-0 for the first time since
1974. The Cards earned the franchise’s 500th regularseason victory with a 24-21 overtime win over Miami.
The Cardinals are the ninth team in NFL history with
500 regular-season victories. The game also marked
the first time since 1999 that the Cardinals overcame a
halftime deficit of at least 13 points to win. … Detroit
became the first team since at least 1940 to give up a
kickoff and a punt return for touchdowns in consecutive games, according to STATS LLC. The Lions
allowed scores on a kickoff and punt in last week’s 44-
41 loss in overtime at Tennessee. … San Diego QB
Philip Rivers passed for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers’ 37-20 win at Kansas City.
Rivers reached 25,000 (25,182) yards passing in his
104th career game. … Texans safety Danieal Manning
intercepted his first pass of the season and the 10th of
his career when he picked off Tennessee QB Matt Hasselbeck in the third quarter. Manning returned the interception 55 yards for a touchdown, giving him his first
career interception return for touchdown. … The Chiefs
have been outscored 41-6 in the first quarter this season. ———
STREAKS
Saints quarterback Drew Brees has thrown at least one
touchdown pass in 47 consecutive games, tied with
Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas for the longest streak in
NFL history. Unitas’ mark of 47 consecutive games
with a TD pass stood alone for 18,291 days. … Tom
Brady has thrown at least one touchdown pass in 36
consecutive games, tied with Brett Favre for the thirdlongest streak in NFL history. … The Falcons (4-0) are
off to their best start since 2004, when they reached
the NFC championship game. … The Chargers
rebounded from a letdown against Atlanta to improve
to 8-2 in their past 10 games against Kansas City.

SIDELINED
Titans quarterback Jake Locker injured his left — nonthrowing — shoulder after being sacked in the first
quarter of 38-14 road loss to the Houston Texans. He
returned to the sideline in the second quarter in street
clothes with his left arm in a sling. Locker hurt the
same shoulder in Tennessee’s season-opening loss to
New England. Tennessee coach Mike Munchak said
Locker was “sore” and will undergo an MRI exam
Monday. How long he will be out remains to be seen. …
Santonio Holmes and the New York Jets will be playing
the waiting game, too. New York’s top receiver had to
be helped from the field after he hurt his left foot on the
first play of the fourth quarter in a 34-0 home loss to
San Francisco. The injury was originally announced as
a knee problem, but the Jets said after the game that
Holmes was having a foot treated. … The Buffalo Bills
will have to shuffle their offensive line after losing two
starters in a 52-28 loss to the New England Patriots.
Coach Chan Gailey said left tackle Cordy Glenn and
right guard Kraig Urbik will be out for “a while” after
both hurt their right ankle.
