GORHAM — The Freeport High School indoor track team kicked off its season with a Western Maine Conference meet at the University of Southern Maine on Friday.
The Falcon boys finished fifth with 53 points, led by Harrison Stivers, who won the Senior 400 in 52.76.
Also for Freeport, Darnel Strother was second in the shot put (33-00.50), Abrin Berkemeyer second in the two mile (10:44.21) and third in the mile (4:49.18), Victor Skoropa fourth in two mile (11:39.15) and Ashton Jordan fourth in the Junior 55 (7.61).
In the girls meet, Freeport took sixth with 48 points.
Point-getters for the Falcons were Hayley Steckler (second, Senior 200, 29.73), Hannah Schnyder (third, Junior 400, 1:10.37), Chloe Hight (fourth, Junior 400, 1:12.83), Kelsey Grant (fifth, Senior 55, 8.18; third, Senior 55 hurdles, 10:48; fifth, long jump, 14-05), Cierra Wentworth (fourth in both the 800, 2:41.96, and one mile, 5:54.01) and Katie O’Neil (fourth, long jump, 14-06).
Freeport returns to USM for a meet this upcoming Friday at 3:30 p.m.
