With Holy Week upon us, culminated with Easter a little more than seven days away, local houses of worship have been announcing their plans.

The following is a list of some of the services taking place during the next week at Midcoast congregations.

• The Neighborhood United Church of Christ will start with a 10 a.m. Palm Sunday service on March 25. There will be services from 5-6 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, March 29, and Good Friday, March 30; a labyrinth will be set up in the sanctuary. Also on Maundy Thursday, Bath United Methodist Church, located at 340 Oak Grove Ave., will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m., which will include more formal and traditional liturgies. And, on Good Friday, Grace Episcopal Church at 1100 Washington St. will conduct a walking stations of the cross, starting at noon.

The Neighborhood will conduct its annual ecumenical Easter Sunrise service at Waterfront Park at 6 a.m. April 1. Then, at 10 a.m., there will be a gathering at the the church, concluding with a rendition of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.

This is just a partial list of Holy Week events in the Midcoast; for more information about services in your area, check with your local house of worship.

• LifeChurch Midcoast will celebrate its Easter service and celebration at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 1. The celebration begins with a Little Peeps Egg Scramble for children age six and younger, and the Big Peeps Egg Scramble for children age 7 and older. The 10 a.m. service will feature contemporary workshop music and message.

The church is located in the Bath Area Senior Center at 45 Floral St. in Bath.

• The Second Congregational Church of Newcastle UCC, will begin with a Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m. March 25. A special workship service will take place at 7 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, March 29. On Good Friday, March 30, the church sanctuary will be open from noon to 3 p.m. for those wishing a place for prayer and meditation.

The Easter Sunday service begins at 10 a.m. on April 1. A fellowship hour will immediately follow the worship service, with an Easter egg hunt for those families and children who have worshiped with us.

• Edgecomb Community Church United Church of Christ, will host a Palm/Passion Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. March 25. The Agape (Love) Feast and Maundy Thursday Service will take place at 5:30 p.m. March 29 in the Fellowship Hall; all are invited to share a free, simple meal of light traditional foods.

An Easter Sunrise Service will take place at 6:30 a.m. April 1 at Fort Edgecomb State Historic Park, located at 66 Old Fort Road in Edgecomb. At 9:30 a.m., there will be a service at Edgecomb Community Church.
