TOPSHAM — Judith Ann Mallett died suddenly but peacefully at home in Topsham on Sunday, March 18, 2018. She was born in Pontiac, Illinois on May 2, 1948, the youngest of four children to Mildred and Frank Russell. She graduated from Judson College with a degree of Bachelor of Arts with high distinction.

Judy expressed her love of God in poetry, sketches, and photography using her many artistic gifts. She loved taking photographs of birds, trees, water and boats. Her recreational activities included long walks, snowshoeing, bicycling and swimming. She enjoyed several windjammer cruises.

A voracious reader of mysteries and frequent visitor to the local library, she often said that taking home a stack of library books was like Christmas Day. Judy was cheerful greeter so that people recognized her at a library, store, church, YMCA or restaurant.

She loved buying Wild Oats lattes with her close friend Deb Seybold who called her “a ’60s girl” and a “steadfast, loyal ‘sister’ friend.” Judy loved her “kitties” and made sure they were well cared for. An annual spring event for her was to hear the first morning dove coo. She loved being around family and friends at gatherings. She was married to Stephen Mallett for 31 years. Judy was close to God and now rests at peace with her maker. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Brunswick. Her warmth and love will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Surviving are her husband of Topsham; a brother, Donald Russell of Illinois; nieces and nephews.
