My family, gathered in Topsham for Christmas last week, was shocked and dismayed to discover several typographical errors in a front page story about local holiday shopping.
The nastiest error occurred when your writer replaced the item “ chamois shirts” with “ shammy shits.” It was clear when we stumbled across this phrase that the article was unlikely to have been copyedited, and that a simple spellcheck had been ignored.
We were additionally upset when we could not locate a single mention of this error in subsequent issues of the paper.
Imagine how LLBean feels. Is this any way to show support for local businesses during the holiday season?
If this is your idea of a funny April Fools’ joke, you are three months too early. Also, it’s NOT FUNNY.
Please apologize to us, as well as your other readers, as soon as possible.
