The Morse High School swim team hosted the Morse Invitational recently.

It was an exciting afternoon of swimming at the Bath Area Family YMCA as teams from Morse, Brunswick, Mt. Desert Island, Bangor, Cheverus and Windham competed.

In relay action, Brunswick placed second in the 200-yard medley relay, with Lynsie Russell, Laurel Margerum, Caitlin Tycz and Emma Blair swimming well. Morse’s Brittany Kaler, Leah Totman, Ann Tolan and Madison Burch placed fourth.

Camden Fitzgerald, Drew Ceglinski, Wesley McKenna and Tucker Banger brought home fifth for Morse in 200- medly relay, while Brunswick’s Henry Raker, Brian Hess, Jacob Cost and Sam Washington earned second.

The 200 freestyle relay brought the Brunswick boys a first place, with Hess, Sam Washington, Ben Farrell and Nate Samson. Morse’s Patrick McKenna, Max Gurney, Cameron Marco and Paden Stanton earned sixth.

In the girls 200 free relay, Olivia Carosi, Zenaide McCarthy, Leah Totman and Lexi Stevenson placed fourth for Morse, with Brunswick’s Amelia Hawley, Anna Rider, Elina Woolever and Julia Rider earning fifth.

In the final event of the day, the 400 freestyle relay, the Dragon girls brought home second (Russell, Emma Blair, Sophie Blair and Tycz), while the boys earned first (Farrell, Raker, Cost and Samson). The Morse girls and boys teams both placed fifth. Swimmers Carosi, Kaler, Burch and Tolan competed for the Shipbuilder girls, while Fitzgerald, Wesley McKenna, Ceglinski and Banger competed for the boys.

In freestyle swimming, Tolan placed second and Russell third in the 200, while Hess tied for fifth and Fitzgerald came in seventh.

Emma Blair placed second in the 50 free, while Burch and Stevenson placed eighth and ninth, respectively. In the boys 50 free, Banger and Gurney earned first and third, respectively, while Farrell placed fourth.

In the 100 freestyle, Burch placed eighth and Rider sixth. Samson earned first place, with Banger in third. Tolan took third in the girls 500 freestyle, while Fitzgerald placed fourth. Russell and Raker earned second and fifth, respectively.

In the 200 individual medley, Tycz and Samson placed first in the boys and girls competition. Kaler placed third for the girls, while teammate Wesley McKenna came in fifth.

Tycz of Brunswick also placed first in the 100 butterfly, while her teammate Cost earned second. Kaler and Wesley McKenna earned fourth.

In the 100 backstroke, McCarthy placed sixth. Brunswick’s Emma Blair was third, while teammate Cost brought home a first-place win. Morse’s Patrick McKenna and Kevin Feeney earned ninth and 12th, respectively.

Totman placed fifth in the girls 100 breaststroke, while Ceglinski earned eighth. Hess placed first in the boys competition and Margerum seventh.

Morse is slated to host Mt. Ararat on Tuesday, while Brunswick hosted the Eagles on Friday.
