BRUNSWICK — At a recent Long Reach Swim Club meet, Caitlin Tycz set a pool record for the Bath YMCA in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.34. Her previous pool record time was a 2:05.92.
At the Bowdoin Open swim meet, Tycz set Maine state records in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.31, eclipsing her time of 1:50.37, and the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.93, which is a Bowdoin, Maine state and LRSC team record.
And, in the 500 free, her time of 5:02.92 broke the LRSC team record previously held by Jessica Russell with a 5:05.50.
At the recent U.S. Swimming Junior Nationals Swim Championships held at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, LRSC competitor Ann Tolan competed in three events. In the 50 free she placed 52nd out of 112 swimmers with a season’s best time of 23.76. In the 100 free she placed 81st out of 111 competitors with a season’s best time of 52.33. She also swam the 100 butterfly.
“Ann’s times were very good considering she was racing with bronchitis and a sinus infection,” said LRSC swim coach Jay Morissette.
LRSC’s next swim meet is Jan. 7 at the Northern York County YMCA in Biddeford.
