BOSTON — Former Morse High School standout Keegan McDonough, now playing for the Springfield College men’s basketball team, recently earned New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Basketball weekly honors.
After helping to lead Springfield to a 71-70 upset win over No. 1 Amherst last Wednesday, McDonough, a 6- foot-2 guard, was named NEWMAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
McDonough was sensational in Springfield College’s victory over Amherst, as the freshman helped the Pride to its eighth win over a top-15 Division III men’s basketball team in the last seven seasons. McDonough was all over the court as he stuffed his stat sheet with nine rebounds, eight points, three steals, three assists and a pair of blocks.
Springfield will return to action on Dec. 30 when the Pride host Elizabethtown in the first day of the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic. Tip off is set for 3 p.m.
