BATH — The Morse High School swim team opened its season Friday night against Lewiston at the Bath Area Family YMCA with great results.

The Shipbuilder girls and boys teams swam hard and earned wins, 130- 40 and 121-47, respectively.

In the girls meet, Morse swept first in each of the events. Brittany Kaler and Ann Tolan earned first in four events, including two individual events and both the 200-yard medley and 400- freestyle relays.

Kaler and Tolan had support in the winning 200-medley relay by teammates Leah Totman and Lexi Stevenson, and in the winning 400-freestyle relay by teammates Zenaide McCarthy and Bronwyn Morissette.

Allison Plummer earned first place in both the 200- and 500-freestyle. Plummer was a part of the winning 200- freestyle relay along with Stevenson, Morissette and Madison Burch.

Totman placed first in the 100 breaststroke, while teammate Morissette placed first in the 50 freestyle.

In boys swimming action, the Shipbuilders earned first in nine events, including wins by Patrick McKenna (100 backstroke), Camden Fitzgerald (500 freestyle), Tucker Banger (100 and 50 freestyles), and Wesley McKenna (100 butterfly and 200 freestyle).

In relay action, the Morse boys earned first in the 200-medley relay (Patrick McKenna, Drew Ceglinski, Wesley McKenna and Banger); the 200 freestyle relay (Max Gurney, Wesley McKenna, Ceglinski and Fitzgerald) and the 400 freestyle relay (Fitzgerald, Gurney, Banger and Ben Willertz).

With many of the Morse team qualifying for states, and others close to qualifying, this season opener promises an exciting swim season for the Shipbuilders.

Morse is slated to host KVAC Class A champion Brunswick tonight at 7 p.m.
