Don attended Harpswell schools and graduated from Brunswick High School. He then moved to Florida for a few years before returning home to work in the family business. For many years he worked for Brunswick Coal and Lumber. In 1986, Don helped establish and operate Dolphin Marina Transport as well as haul boats up and down the East Coast.
Beyond all else, Don was a devoted father. First and foremost, his children were his priority in life, providing and supporting them in every aspect.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and boating on Casco Bay. He never passed up an opportunity to jump in his truck or on his motorcycle for a road trip.
Surviving are his daughter Kimberly Holovach, sons Joshua and Cameron Saxton, grandparents Robert and Lorraine Suckow, sister Sharon Saxton, brother Bill Saxton, grandchildren Brittany Colburn, Amanda, Brandi and John Holovach, Ainsley Saxton and eight nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service will be held in late spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 383 U.S. Route 1, Suite C, Scarborough, ME 04074.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
