GEORGETOWN — The Georgetown Working League is accepting applications for its 2018 scholarship program. Application forms and accompanying instructions have been sent directly to Georgetown resident high school seniors. Other students currently enrolled in accredited institutions of higher learning, as well as former applicants (whether a scholarship recipient or not), are encouraged to apply for one of several scholarships managed and awarded by the League. The scholarships are available to adult Georgetown residents of any age.
The forms may be downloaded at georgetownworkingleague.org or picked up in person at the Georgetown Town Office, 50 Bay Point Road. Completed forms must be postmarked by April 30 to be considered. Call (207) 371-2263 for more information.
The GWL raises funds for the scholarship program and town services at an annual fair. The 105th fair will take place on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Georgetown Central School.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
