RICHMOND
A woman was hospitalized following a crash on Main Street in Richmond Thursday afternoon.
Maine State Trooper Klayton Peckham was dispatched to the crash by the Agway at 2:12 p.m. He said a Buick sport utility vehicle driven by Christopher Brawn Jr., 34, of Brunswick crossed over the centerline.
Clarissa Hurley, 50, of Richmond swerved to the shoulder of the road to avoid a head-on collision with the SUV, which still struck her Volkswagen Jetta.
Hurley, who had a pre-existing medical issue involving her spine, was transported by Topsham Rescue to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with injuries that weren’t considered life threatening.
Brawn was summonsed for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
