Cole Guerin scored 14 points to power the Mt. Ararat High School boys basketball team to a 38-30 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Leavitt on Friday in season-opening action.
Jack Sylvester had 13 points to pace the Hornets (0-1).
Eagle Ryan Mello added 13 points as Mt. Ararat opened with the victory and hosts rival Brunswick on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Ethan James powered his way to 18 points to lift the Wolverines (1-0) to a Mountain Valley Conference win at Strong on Friday.
Wiscasset held quarter leads of 14-8, 28-20 and 47-26 en route to the win.
Cody Roberts chipped in 13 points, while Logan Orr had nine for Wiscasset, which hosts Monmouth on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Dan Luce and Nate Luce led the Roadrunners (0-1) with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Jonah Sautter knotted the game with a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime, but the host Greyhounds dropped a season-opening decision to the Bulldogs on Friday.
Sautter finished with 21 points, while Henry Doyle chipped in 17, and Tyrese Joseph and Sean Scott 10 each.
Jett Boyer powered his way to 25 points for Hall- Dale (1-0), while Tyler Nadeau added 16, including seven in overtime.
Lisbon (0-1) visits Carrabec on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The host Knights outscored the Falcons 20-8 in the fourth quarter to rally for a Western Maine Conference win Friday night.
Freeport, 0-1 and slated to visit Waynflete on Tuesday at 7 p.m. trailed 16-14 after a quarter, but ran off with a 25-22 halftime lead. The advantage moved out to 35-28 through three quarters.
Kurtis Leighton led Poland (1-0) with 18 points.
Toby Holt paced Freeport with 13 points, with Ethan Sclar adding 10.

The Bobcats used a strong third quarter to pull away for an East-West Conference victory over the Lakers on Friday in Richmond.
Richmond held quarter leads of 17-8, 35-18 and 49- 30.
Cody Tribbet and Zach Small split 28 points in the win, while Matt Holt had 22 points for Richmond. Small picked up eight rebounds, with Holt pulling down seven, while Matt Rines dished out six assists.
Richard Thompson had a game- high 24 points for Rangeley (0-1), with Carl Trafton adding 11.

The visiting Bobcats jumped out to a 21-7 first quarter lead en route to a non- conference win at Islesboro on Saturday.
Richmond, 2-0 and slated to host Old Orchard Beach on Tuesday at 7 p.m., led 37-15 at the break and 53-34 through three quarters.
Small had a big game for the Bobcats, scoring 28 points. Rines added seven points and Tribbet finished with six.
Avery Grindle popped for 26 points to pace Islesboro (0-1).

FARMINGDALE —
Freshman Giana Russo scored 22 points to lead Lisbon to a 58-26 MVC win over Hall-Dale on Friday.
The Greyhounds, 1-0 and slated to host Carrabec on Tuesday at 7 p.m., jumped out to a 14-7 lead, but a two-point second quarter kept the Bulldogs (0-1) close, 16-12 at the intermission.
Lisbon used a 26- point third quarter to take control, leading 42-18 through 24 minutes.
Kaylin Le chipped in 17 points and six steals in the win.
Sabrina Freeman and Ellie Dekker paced Hall- Dale with 10 and nine points, respectively.

The visiting Roadrunners outscored Wiscasset ( 0- 1), 15- 11 in the fourth quarter for an MVC win on Friday night at Wiscasset.
After failing to score a point in the opening quarter, the Wolverines found their stride in the second frame with 15 points to close to 17-15 at the intermission.
Wiscasset, which visits Monmouth on Tuesday at 7 p.m., tied the contest in the third quarter at 23 apiece.
Gabby Chapman paced the hosts with 12 points, while Hayhlee Craig and Maeve Blodgett added seven each, and Lindsey Gordon six. Craig and Gordon led on the boards with 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
Chapman dished out three assists.
Meg Sorel led Mt. Abram (1-0) with 12 points, with Summer Ross chipping in seven.

The host Hornets jumped out to a 20-7 lead and held off several Eagle runs en route to a KVAC win at Turner on Friday.
Leavitt (1-0) held quarter leads of 28-18 and 34-27.
Sophia Gilbert scored a game-high 21 points in the win, while Elizabeth Goulette added 10 points, and Shannon O’Malley and Rebecca Fogg picking up eight apiece.
Nikki Bradsteet and Taylor Wienckowski split 18 points down the middle for Mt. Ararat ( 0- 1), which hosts Brunswick on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Kyle Greenleaf added six points, with Sabrina Paetow, Lauren Labbay and Caitlyn Smith each finishing with four points. Kate Guerin and Labbay each pulled down eight boards, with Bradstreet picking up four steals.
