LISBON
The Maine Department of Transportation has Lisbon penciled in for some road repairs this year.
The recent release of the MDOT work plan for the next three years showed that two stretches of road in Lisbon will be the focus in 2018. The first is a stretch of Route 196 that goes from Main Street to Capital Avenue. The other project will include paving on Crowley Road, beginning at the Bowdoin town line.
“Maintaining infrastructure is one of the most important functions of state government,” said state Sen. Garrett Mason, R-Androscoggin in a statement. “I would like to thank the Department of Transportation for prioritizing these projects that are vital to our safety and our economic success in Androscoggin County.”
While those two projects are slated for this summer, the DOT has future improvements planned for Route 9 and Route 125. The future projects include adding auxiliary turning lanes at the intersection of Routes 9 and 125, and further rehabilitation to parts of Route 125. Those projects could happen in 2019 or 2020.
The DOT is planning a total of $2.3 billion for 2,262 projects across the state in the recently released plans. According to DOT information, the Route 196 project will have an estimated cost of $671,000. The Crowley road project estimate is projected to cost $200,718.
