NEWTON, Mass. — The Saint Joseph’s College women’s basketball made it 17 straight victories on Tuesday with a 58-38 Great Northeast Athletic Conference win over Lasell College.
The Monks are 18-1 overall, 10-0 in the GNAC, while Lasell fell to 3-14 overall, 1-9 in the conference.
Off to a slow start, the Monks trailed 14-10 after the first quarter, but St. Joe’s outscored Lasell by a 21-4 margin in the second stanza, a 10- minute span during which the Royal Blue shot 50-percent from the floor and went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line while forcing eight Laser turnovers.
Leading 31-18 at halftime, the Monks’ dominance continued into the third quarter to the tune of an 18-8 scoring advantage.
Kelsi McNamara led four Monks in double figures with 16 points. Former Brunswick High School standout Julia Champagne added 12 points, including four 3-pointers, with four rebounds and three steals.
Saint Joseph’s hosts GNACrival Regis (Mass.) tonight in a 6 p.m. tip-off.
