BRUNSWICK — James J. Nacke, age 85, of Ward Circle, died on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Gosnell Hospice in Scarborough.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 3, 1932, the son of Louis and Cecilia Nacke.

He attended schools in Cincinnati, Ohio and Buffalo, New York. He graduated from New Hampshire College in 1973 with a B.S. in business management.

Mr. Nacke served 25 years as an air traffic controller in the Navy. He then worked for the state of Maine, Support Enforcement for 20 years.

Surviving is his wife, Sheila Ross Nacke of Brunswick, ME. Four daughters Jeanne (Daniel) Sutton of Brunswick, Joyce Neely of Topsham, Janet Croll of Winthrop, and Jamie (Matthew) Clough of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife Joan Roos Nacke, a sister Marion Bazzell, two brothers Paul Nacke and Mark Nacke.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish in Brunswick, ME. Military honors will we held at the church following the service and a reception after the honors ceremony will be held in the church hall. Burial in Old Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta, will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
