BRUNSWICK

The Brunswick High School girls ice hockey team improved to 4-7 with a 5-2 victory over Yarmouth/ Freeport on Tuesday at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

Nadia Leiner had 14 saves for the Dragons, while Freeport’s Allie Perratta had 19 saves.

Brunswick jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Emily Factor scored an unassisted goal at 6:22.

Lizzie Guertler tied it for the Clippers (1-9-1) off an assist from Paige Caufield.

Late in the period, Elena Palmer gave the Dragons the lead, with Factor earning an assist.

Brunswick claimed a 3-1 lead in the second frame as Beth Labbe finished off a pass from Palmer. Palmer scored on a partial breakaway, with Harriet Peabody assisting, and Labbe’s second of the period from Colleen McKearney and Greta White, gave the Dragons a 5-1 lead after two.

Sophie McGrath scored for Yarmouth/Freeport in the third period to complete the scoring.

Brunswick hosts Gorham/Bonny Eagle/ Massabesic on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., while the Clippers host Mt. Ararat/Morse today at 5:20 p.m.

Boys hockey

BRUNSWICK — Mt. Ararat/ Lisbon/ Morse poured on plenty of shots at Watson Arena, but South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete goaltender Liam McGibbon was up to the task as he made 27 saves and the Red Riots cruised to a 6-2 victory.

The Eagles fell behind early when Red Riot Mitchell Adams wristed home the first goal past netminder Cade Charron just 25 seconds into the game.

The Eagles tied the game as Noah Austin scored midway through the period when his centering pass deflected off a Red Riots defenseman and into the net.

But, the Eagles fell victim to the same fate just seconds later when Willets Myer was credited with a goal that bounced an Eagles skate to give South Portland/ Freeport/Waynflete the lead back.

Austin scored another goal for the Eagles (2-6) off a pass from Nick Austin.

Charron finished with 23 saves in the Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/ Morse cage.

The Riots (5-3) were led by Aidan Schifano, who scored a goal and added two assists. Tyler Campbell chipped in with two assists.

The Eagles are right back at it tonight with a big matchup against Cony/Monmouth/ Hall-Dale at 6 p.m., while the Red Riots visit Biddeford on Monday at 3:15 p.m.

Boys basketball

FREEPORT — Freeport nailed 13 treys during an 83- 42 Western Maine Conference win over Poland.

The Falcons improved to 5-2 and host Greely on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Freeport led 29-9, 50-18 and 64-28 at the quarter breaks.

Ethan Sclar paced the victory with 13 points, while Kaleb Barrett chipped in with 11, Toby Holt 10 and Gabe Wagner nine.

Peter Bolduc III led Poland (0-6) with eight points.

BRUNSWICK 66

The host Dragons ended a three-game slide with a KVAC win over Lincoln Academy.

Colby Bucknam scored 18 of his game-high 20 points in the second half for the 6-3 Dragons.

Brunswick is slated to host Leavitt on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

NYA 50

De’Andre King had a huge game for North Yarmouth Academy as the Panthers rolled to a win over Pine Tree Academy.

King had 34 points and 14 rebounds as NYA improved to 3-6.

The Breakers (3-5) trailed 12-9 after a quarter, 24-11 at the half and 34-20 after three.

Jared Tamalea’a led PTA with nine points, while Chris Amisi and Alex Schlisner picked up six points apiece.

The Breakers head to North Haven on Thursday and Friday.

Girls basketball

DIXFIELD — Sydney Underhill-Tilton scored 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Richmond rolled to a 56-29 Mountain Valley Conference win over Dirigo.

The Bobcats improved to 6-4 and host Telstar on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Richmond jumped out to a 17-2 first-quarter lead, held a 28-14 halftime edge and extended out to a 48-18 advantage after three.

Ashley Abbott had 11 points and seven assists in the win, while Bryanne Lancaster contributed eight points.

Dirigo (0-9) received six points from Ashley Perrault and Paige Lueders.

LINCOLN 34

Charlotte MacMillan led three players in double figures as the undefeated Dragons cruised in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play at Newcastle.

Brunswick led 15-8, 39-13 and 47-26 at the quarter breaks.

MacMillan had 16 points, while Marley Groat chipped in 15 points, five steals and five assists. Sabrina Armstrong powered her way to 10 points with eight steals, while Alexis Guptill pulled down eight rebounds and had four steals to go along with seven points.

Brunswick visits Leavitt on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

MT. ABRAM 43

The host Roadrunners jumped out to a big first-half lead and held on for an MVC win over the Wolverines, who fell to 0-10 and hosts Monmouth on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Mt. Abram led 14-4 after one and 25-11 at the half. Wiscasset outscored its hosts 24-18 in the second half.

Summer Ross scored eight of her game-high 21 points in the opening frame, while Lindsay Huff added nine points for Mt. Abram.

Sydnie Thayer led Wiscasset with 14 points, followed by Lindsay Gordon with eight and Maeve Blodgett with seven.

CARRABEC 46
LISBON 31

The Greyhounds came out on the short end of an MVC contest against Carrabec.

Lisbon trailed 16-6 after a quarter, and the Cobras held a 16-4 scoring edge in the third quarter for a commanding 36-16 lead.

Melanie Clark and Mackenzie Baker each had 12 points in the win, while Bailey Dunphy added 10.

Giana Russo paced Lisbon (3-6) with 11 points, followed by Carly Drischler with seven and Charlee Cox with six.

At the free-throw line, the Greyhounds were 7-of-13 and the Cobras 4-of-7.

NYA 42

North Yarmouth Academy sprinted out to an 11-1 first-quarter advantage for a win over Pine Tree Academy (1-6).

The Breakers are slated to visit North Haven on Thursday and Friday.

Sydney Plummer paced the win with 14 points, while Margaret and Katherine Larson split 22 points.

Emily Schlisner had nine points for PTA, while Adriana DePalma and Agnes Miongo had five points apiece.

HEBRON 37

The host Lumberjacks held the Breakers to just five points in the second half for a win on Monday.

Pine Tree Academy fell to 1-5.

Hebron Academy (2-2) led 12-5, 21-12 and 33-15 at the quarter breaks.

Schlisner led the Breakers with eight points, while Maddy New had 11 for Hebron and Franceska Halloran 10.
