Shenna Bellows, the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate, has my vote.

There are several reasons I’m voting for her.

Shenna Bellows, as a member of a middle class family, understands and is concerned about America and Maine’s middle class. This is why Shenna Bellows supports fair pay for women. In her television ads, Susan Collins said she also supports fair pay for women. If that’s the case, why did she vote with Washington Republicans against the Paycheck Fairness Act two times this year?

Shenna Bellows also supports a gradual increase in the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. In April, Collins voted with Washington Republicans to block a $10.10 minimum wage.

Shenna Bellows also supports the Udall Amendment, which would have overturned the controversial Citizens United Supreme Court decision and bring about common sense regulation of campaign spending. On September 11, Collins again joined Washington Republicans in voting against this amendment.

Shenna Bellows on numerous occasions has voiced her support for Senator Bernie Sanders’ veterans pay and benefits bill. In February, Collins voted with Washington Republicans against Senator Sanders’ bill. This was after the American Legion and more than two dozen other veterans’ groups announced their support for the bill.

Shenna Bellows has my vote because she knows and understands Mainers and their worries and concerns. And, it’s time we had a Senator from Maine who has not spent so much time in Washington that she’s lost touch with what her constituents’ concerns are.
