TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School “A” field hockey team came out with a 3-0 shutout victory over Bath Middle School on Wednesday.
Both teams entered the half with a 0-0 tie despite multiple attacks in the Eagles offensive zone. Strong play by both the Bath goalie and her defenders helped keep the game even.
Mt. Ararat got on the board when Caroline Gepfert received a pass from Abby Hagan and pushed it into the net to put her team up 1-0. Soon after, Abby Parry took a pass from Brea Holtet while at the right goal-post and tipped it in for a 2-0 advantage.
While the remainder of the half was dominated by the Eagles, top-scorer Wyley Fitz- Patrick put the third and final goal (Madigan Saunders assist) in the back of the cage.
Midfielders Gabie Head, Lexi Laurelez and Emily Robbins were noted for strong play, while Maisy Pilch and Kalie Appleby played well in the attacking-zone. Defenders Kelsea Dwylley and Emily Robbins along with Eagles goalie Lily Schenk made some excellent plays to keep Bath off the scoreboard. With the win the Eagles jump their record to 4-1-2.
