The Brunswick High School girls soccer team bounced back to record a 4-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Brewer on Friday.

The Dragons, coming off a loss to Bangor, improved to 6-3 and hosts Lawrence on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Maeve Arthur, Bailey Hartill, Lea Scrapchansky and Rian Sachs had a goal each in the win, while Kira Wolpow dished out two assists, with Sachs and Scrapchansky adding one assist apiece.

Brunswick outshot the Witches, 25-13, with Dragon netminder Beth Labbe making eight saves and Brewer keeper Libby Hewes turning aside 17.

Kipri Steele and Siara Martin scored their first career goals as the visiting Greyhounds earned a hard-fought Mountain Valley Conference win at Farmingdale on Friday.

Steele’s goal came in the first half off a set up from Carly Drischler.

Martin doubled Lisbon’s (6- 1-2) lead.

In goal, Greyhound keeper Ali Sult turned aside 11 shots, while Hall-Dale’s (3-6-1) Maggie Gross had five saves.

MARANACOOK 0

Emily Martin finished off a pass from Amanda Gagne just four minutes into the contest as the visiting Shipbuilders rolled to a KVAC over Maranacook on Friday in Readfield.

Gagne and Sierra Wallace added a goal each for Morse, which improved to 7-2 and visits Belfast on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

The midfield play of Wallace, Gagne and Madeline Mitchell was solid for Morse, which finished with a 14-3 shot advantage. Morse goaltender Marissa Parks earned her fourth shutout.

Boys soccer

OAKLAND — Cole Kelly and Travis Nadeau scored a goal each a minute apart late in the first half as Mt. Ararat claimed a 4-1 KVAC win over Messalonskee on Friday.

Mt. Ararat, which improved to 8-1 and hosts Hampden Academy on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., led 2-0 at the half.

In the second frame, Nick Merrill potted a pair of goals for 4-0 lead. Dalton Streeter and Max Spelke each assisted.

Messalonskee’s James Kouletsis scored the lone goal for the hosts.

In goal, Mt. Ararat’s Gavin Patterson turned aside six shots, with Messalonskee’s Chase Warren making 12 stops.

FREEPORT 1

Eriksen Shea gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead late in the first half, but the visiting Flyers tied it on an Ilyas Abdi goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation to forge a Western Maine Conference deadlock on Saturday.

Joe Burke had fives for Freeport, which is 5-4-1 and visits Poland on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

Luca Antonlini turned away nine shots in the net for Waynflete (4-3-2).

Field hockey

BRUNSWICK — Hannah Escoe scored two goals in the opening half, leading Brunswick to a 6-3 KVAC win over Bangor on Friday.

Shea Sullivan assisted on Escoe’s second first-half goal.

In the second frame, Anna Rider scored 21 seconds into play off an assists from Grace Casey and Erin Coughlin.

Maddie Wayne (assisted by Casey), Sullivan (Rosie White) and White scored downed the stretch for the Dragons, who improved to 5-6 and hosts Edward Little today at 3:30 p.m.

At Jay, Alex Bessey scored two goals as the Phoenix bested the Shipbuilders in KVAC action on Friday.

Morse fell to 3-6-1 and visits Mt. View on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Spruce Mountain improved to 8-2.

The Phoenix held a 2-0 lead at the half, with Bessey’s second goal coming with 29 seconds left in the opening frame.

Sophie Wilson had four saves for Morse, with Sydney Shaffer making one stop for Spruce Mountain.

FALMOUTH 6

FREEPORT 2

Falmouth tallied five goals in the second half to pull away for an WMC win on Friday over the Falcons, who fell to 4- 6-1 and hosts Cape Elizabeth on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Devon Sarazin had four goals in the second frame to propel the 11-2 Yachtsmen to the win. Kate Kelley and Stone Carmichael also scored for the visitors.

Natalie Anderson and Bailey Coffin tallied for Freeport, while Falcon keeper Megan Seymour was busy with 27 saves.

Volleyball

YARMOUTH — Brunswick dropped a 3-0 decision to North Yarmouth Academy on Friday.

The Dragons (0-9) host Cheverus on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Panthers won by set scores of 26-24, 23-15, 25-10.

Katharine Kunhardt led the Dragons with 12 digs, three assists and a service ace. Mackenzie Burrows chipped in two kills, while Julia Baumgarte and Macy Giunti had one ace and two kills apiece.
