BRUNSWICK — Morgen Gallagher scored less than two minutes into Tuesday afternoon’s game to extend the Bowdoin women’s soccer team’s winning streak and defeat visiting University of New England, 1-0.

The Polar Bears (6-1) have strung together consecutive one-goal victories with strong defensive play.

The Nor’Easters (6-2) were riding a three-game win streak, with their only other loss being a 1-0 result at Wheaton.

Gallagher provided the Polar Bears with all the offense they needed, finishing off a feed from Nikki Wilson just 1:23 into action. Wilson dribbled around the UNE defense and found Gallgher with a tight pass, which was controlled and put away on the ground.

The Nor’Easters nearly netted an equalizer in the 24th minute as Taylor Littlefield clipped the crossbar with a high arcing shot from beyond the box.

Brielle Robinson kept her team in the game, making several sprawling saves in net to deny Bowdoin.
