BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College men’s soccer team got a pair of first-half goals in a 2-0 non-conference win over the University of New England on Tuesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (3-3-0) rebound from a Saturday loss at Middlebury and lead the all-time series against UNE, 17-1. The Nor’easters fell to 3-3-1 with the loss.

After peppering the net in the early going, Bowdoin finally cashed in with under 10 minutes to play in the first half. Connor Keefe and Andrew Jones led a rush downfield and the ball came to Matt Dias-Costa in the center of the box. His shot was saved by UNE goaltender Aidan McParland, but Nick DiStefano pounced on the rebound to notch his first collegiate goal at 35:20.

Bowdoin was able to double its lead just over two minutes later when Dias- Costa attempted a cross from the left wing that was booted directly into the UNE goal by one of the Nor’easter defenders at 37:38.

Bowdoin continued to pressure the net throughout the second half, but McParland kept UNE within striking distance, making 12 saves — including several highlight reel stops — to keep the deficit at two goals.

The Polar Bears held a 26- 5 shots advantage and 9-1 edge in corner kicks. Noah Safian made two stops for the Polar Bears over the first 81:05.

Bowdoin returns to action on Oct. 1 at home against Husson (3:30 p.m.).
