BRUNSWICK — The fall sports season is in high gear, with last week a busy time for area athletes. Bowdoin College was a happening place, with volleyball, rugby soccer and field hockey.

High school athletes were certainly busy. Wiscasset and Lisbon soccer teams (both boys and girls) battled it out in two physical affairs. Julie Petrie’s Lisbon field hockey team, coming off a rare loss, worked hard in a 1-0 win over Telstar. Brunswick and Mt. Ararat met in a battle of winless clubs, a game that turned into an instant classic as the Dragons won on a last-minute goal. Brunswick football won at Cony, avenging a regional final loss last season.

This week features a ton of action for The Times Record Sports Department to cover, with the Brunswick boys soccer team hosting Edward Little today (3:30 p.m.), Brunswick and Mt. Ararat golfers facing off at Brunswick Golf Club on Wednesday, and Friday and Saturday football at Mt. Ararat (home against Gorham on Friday, 7 p.m.) and Morse (Saturday at home against Fryeburg Academy, 1:30 p.m.).
