WISCASSET — Russell Marr scored the game-winning goal with 15:27 remaining to lift the Wiscasset High School boys soccer team to a 3-2 Mountain Valley Conference win over Dirigo on Saturday.
The win is the first in Chris Cossette’s return to coaching as the Wolverines improved to 1-2 and visits Hall-Dale today at 4 p.m.
Nate Woodman opened the scoring off a pass from Brandon Goud to give the hosts the lead.
Marr converted a penalty kick in the second half, and after Dirigo (1-1) had tied it, Marr scored unassisted for a 3-2 lead.
Conlon Ranta made 10 saves in the win, while Cougars netminder Justin Grignon had 12 stops.
WINTHROP 0
LISBON 1
Austin Fournier finished off a pass from Nick Larette for the game’s lone goal as the Greyhounds slipped past Winthrop in MVC play on Friday.
The Greyhounds improved to 3-0 and have yet to allow a goal. Netminder Ryley Austin had two saves in the win, and Lisbon travels to Dirigo today at 4 p.m.
Matt Sekerak has nine stops in goal for Winthrop (0-3).
BRUNSWICK 5
BREWER 1
The Dragons broke into the win column (1-2) on Saturday, exploding for five first-half goals en route to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win at Brewer.
Keenen Welzel had two goals, while Eric Kousky, Alex Reny and Noah Imperato chipped in one goal apiece. Midfielder Jesse Arford assisted on the first three goals to give Brunswick, which hosts Messalonskee on Tuesday (6 p.m.), an early lead.
Isaac Small scored the lone goal for Brewer.
“This was a good all-around effort,” said Brunswick coach Mark Roma. “It was nice to put it all together, with everyone contributing.”

Liam Belle scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner midway through the second half as the host Warriors picked up a Western Maine Conference win Saturday night.
Jack Davenport paced 0-2-1 Freeport with two goals, with one goal coming from Caleb Abbott. Freeport is slated to visit Yarmouth on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Hatim Sharaf and TJ Wright added a goal each for Wells (2-2).

Robbie Small’s second goal of the game two minutes into overtime lifted the Eagles to a come-from-behind KVAC win at Farmington on Saturday.
Down 1-0 at the half, Small tied the game in the second half to force the extra period. In overtime, Chris Pepin chipped a direct kick toward the Mt. Blue goal, with Small heading the pass in for the win, giving Mt. Ararat a 3-1 record with key matchup slated for Tuesday at home against Edward Little (6 p.m.).
Jon Roux had two saves in goal for the Eagles, who held a dominating 15-0 edge in corner kicks.
VINALHAVEN 0
RICHMOND 7
The host Bobcats dominated this East-West Conference matchup on Friday.
Brendan Emmons tallied three goals in the win, while Cody Tribbet picked up a goal and two assists, with Curtis Anderson dishing out two helpers. Matt Rines, Nate Vintinner and Cameron Emmons chipped in one goal each, and Logan Anair had an assist.
Richmond goaltender Zach Small had two saves, while Vikings netminder Louis Cray turned aside 10 shots.
RICHMOND 3
GREENVILLE 0
Brendan Emmons, Anderson and Cameron Emmons tallied one goal each in Richmond’s EWC win on Saturday at rival Greenville.
Anderson, Vintinner and Tribbet added an assist apiece, while Small had two more stops. Tyler Soucy, Nate Kendrick and Mike Stewart played well for the Bobcats.
Matt Mendez had four saves for Greenville.
Richmond is slated to visit Rangeley on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
